Our story

Built on the coast.
Made for lift.

Kill Devil Group brings together six people with different backgrounds and one shared goal: make useful technology easier for small and midsize businesses to understand and use.

We help business owners find the problems holding them back, research practical AI and software solutions, build the right system, and test it until it works in the real world.

Why Kill Devil Group

A name rooted in North Carolina history.

The name Kill Devil Group comes from Kill Devil Hills on North Carolina's Outer Banks. We know the words can sound bold at first. For us, they represent a real coastal place, a shared connection to North Carolina, and the spirit of testing an idea until it is ready to fly.

One longstanding explanation for the name dates to the colonial era. Ships carrying rum sometimes wrecked along the Outer Banks, and barrels washed ashore or were recovered from the dunes. Local legend held that the rum was strong enough to "kill the devil." The Town of Kill Devil Hills recognizes this as one of the stories behind its unusual name.

The area later became part of another defining story. At Kill Devil Hills, the Wright brothers tested, learned, adjusted, and achieved the first successful controlled powered flight in 1903. That history inspired our First Flight language and our belief that meaningful progress comes from practical experimentation.

Our coastal roots

This story is personal to us.

All six founders have lived on the North Carolina coast. Five attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Two are aspiring pilots, and one is a scuba diver. Our colors, coastal design, and First Flight theme come from a region that has shaped every member of the team.
